Interaction: collisions and synchronization of nonlinear waves in laser with external feedback. Relations between conservative and dissipative systems.

The interaction of nonlinear waves will be discussed. The three particular cases of interaction are selected:

(a) collisions, when interacting pulses move with oppositely directed velocities,

(b) bound-state formation, when interacting pulses are initially motionless (or co-moving with close or identical velocities) and

(c) synchronization, when pulses are locked in potential wells.

The problems are considered in details for laser with external frequency selective feedback. It offers diverse opportunities of control. The general nature of the considered phenomena makes it relevant to the corresponding problems in reaction-diffusion systems.
