Interessierte Bachelor-Studierende sind willkommen. Voraussetzung ist Quantenmechanik (Theoretische Physik II) und Freude an theoretischer Physik. Vorlesung + Übung: 10 LP Hinweis: Zusammen mit den Übungen sowie der Vorlesung Computational aspects of statistical physics L 528 oder Quantenmechanik gebundener Atome L 527 wird im SS 12 der volle Umfang des Wahlpflichtfaches von 8 Semesterwochenstunden (12 LP) erreicht.
When attending this course (lecture + exercises), 10 ECTS credit points can be obtained. This course (lecture + exercises) can be combined with either lecture L 528 or 527 for a total of 12 ECTS credit points.

Vorlesung
Vorlesungsinhalte:
This lecture course will cover key aspects of modern theoretical condensed matter physics: Electronic structure of solids, density functional theory, crystal structure and symmetry, bandstructure theory, cohesion in solids, lattice vibrations, magnetism, surface physics, and physics of defects. All lectures will be given in English.
