Prof. Dr. Anna Zakharova, PhD
Dr. Everton S. Medeiros
Time: Tuesday 16:15 (c.t.)
Room: ER 164
Begin: 21.04.20 Durch den Besuch der Veranstaltung mit Vortrag und Ausarbeitung können 4 ECTS Punkte erworben werden.
nonlinear systems have come to light. For instance, a lot of works addressing
the existence and the stability (locally and globally) of spatiotemporal patterns
of synchronization have provided considerable progress in the field. However,
only very recently, a more realistic approach to the structure of networked systems
has been incorporated to consider interconnections heterogeneities among
different network domains, or layers. Such a description is called multilayer
networks. If different layers have the same number of nodes and there are no
cross-links between the layers, such a network is called a multiplex network.
Within the scope of this framework, a variety of new phenomena are being
provided together with a better understanding of, for example, ecological and
biological processes. In this context, the topics available for this seminar have
been selected to provide the audience with an understanding of theoretical and
phenomenological aspects of multilayer networks through concepts of nonlinear
dynamics and network theory. Some of the addressed subjects are the emergent
solutions of multilayered systems such as synchronization, solitary states, and
other cluster states; The control and the enhancement of coherence resonance in
noisy multilayered systems; A review for the unsolved problems in neuroscience;
The intrinsic multilayer nature of ecological networks and the occurrence of
transient phenomena in ecology; Some phenomenological aspects of networked
models of the brain and the heart.
