SFB 910 Workshop - Synchronization in complex networks
workshop titled "Synchronization in Complex Networks"
(SyCoNet) will be held between 04.04.11-08.04.11 at the Technische
Universität in Berlin. The programme of the workshop can be found
It is presented by the Collaborative Research Center 910 and will include respresentatives from the research groups of:
Prof. Dr. Ido Kanter (Bar-Ilan University, Israel)
Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Kinzel (Universität Würzburg, Germany)
Prof. Dr. Eckehard Schöll, PhD (Technische Universität Berlin, Germany)
A complete list of the participants is included here .
Synchronization effects in networks of coupled elements play an important role for example for learning, cognitive and pathological states in the brain, for secure communication with chaotic lasers, gene regulation networks, reliable and robust operation of power grids, etc.
Our understanding of these phenomena is still in its infancy. The interplay of simple local dynamics of each node and the interaction of the nodes through a network can give rise to complex emergent behavior as nature impressively demonstrates in the brain. Developing methods to control cooperative states in a network is a new line of research that has emerged in recent years and may have important influence on technological and biological applications.
The aim of this mini-workshop is to bring together a small number of leading groups in the field under the umbrella of the SFB 910 in order to exchange ideas, initiate new research collaborations, and discuss open problems concerning synchronization phenomena in networks.
