Computation of robustness measures for descriptor systems
In many fields of science and engineering it is of importance to optimize the robustness of a dynamical system in order to make the influence of perturbations to the system as small as possible. For this optimization process it is necessary to efficiently and accurately assess the system's robustness. In this talk we will present several numerical methods for the computation of these robustness measures. We will focus on the case where the system dynamics is modelled by a linear differential-algebraic equation. The presented methods are based on the solution of structured generalized eigenvalue problems. We will also discuss the respective eigenvalue methods that exploit and preserve the problem structure.
