B9: Collective phenomena in laser networks with nonidentical units

Project summary:
The aim of the project is to study the nonlinear
dynamics of delay-coupled lasers forming a complex network of
nonidentical units, thereby exploring new frontiers in signal
processing. Considering large optical laser networks, e.g. integrated
on a chip, opens innovative paths for novel applications. The goal is
to understand occurring bifurcation scenarios in an all-to-all coupled
laser network and to predict stable patterns like synchronization,
chimera states, or multi-cluster solutions. Furthermore, we will break
new grounds in designing unconventional computational approaches such
as machine learning based reservoir
computing.
